This grass can grow
up to 2 feet tall, its leaves (sheaths) are usually hairy and has
4 t 8 spikes (infloresceners) that resemble a fuzzy catepillar.
Beach wire grass grows in areas that have become partially stabalized.
The beach wire grass is commonly seen along roadsides, on lava and
in other dry coastal areas.
