Maiapilo or Native Caper
Capparis Sandwichiana
Maiapilo is a small shrub that was brought to Hawaii from birds because of the sticky seeds. Maiapilo is a native hawaiian plant with beautiful white blossoms. It blooms in the evening and in the morning; the petals turn pink and slowly wither away. After it withers away, seeds start to form.

Once the seeds are fully grown, they turn orange. It takes seven to ten days for the seeds to be full ripe. The petals are creamy white when it is in “bloom”.

Maiapilo grows in lava cracks and crevices. It is invasive. Scientists say that maiapilo is a good contestant to be extinct in the future because of "rapid development". Maiapilo is occasionally found on Popoia.
