Masked
Booby or 'A
The largest and rarest of all the species they have a yellowish
orange bill and a black tail wth party black wings that span of
65inches. Their body is shaped like a torpedo and grows to 25 inches
in length. The female makes a croaking sound. |

To
attract a mate the male will points his beak, tail and wingtips
to the sky while whistling. The female and male march around
one another. Each colony will begin breeding at the same time
each year. The
Masked Booby can breed at the age of four and remain with
the same mate for life.

Masked Booby has air sacks in their head to protect him when they dive. |

The
masked booby will lay two eggs in a shallow hole in the ground. The
eggs are chakey white or light blue. Both parents take turns sitting
on the eggs for 9 hours at a time. It takes 43 days for the eggs to
hatch. |

Masked Booby's wingspan is 65 inches. |

The chick that
is born first, will kick the younger chick out of the nest. Only
60% of the eggs laid actually hatch which could mean a second egg
is for insurance. Young boobies are not independent unil they learn
how to fly, dive and feed. Their lifespan is thought to be about
20 years old |
