Red-Footed Booby
A seabird that goes through a wide variety of color phases, it finally appears fully white as an adult with a blue beak and vivid red feet.The adults wings have black edges and pale gold highlights on their heads and necks. They grow to be about 28 inches tall with a wingspan up to 40 inches!

 

 

 

The Red-Footed Booby rarely eat near land. They dive up to 30 meters to catch there prey. They mostly eat flying fish and squid. They feed both day and night.

The Red-footed Booby's breeding season starts in January and ends in September. They seekTheir nests are made of sticks and twigs on top of shrubs and they lay a single chalky white egg. It may take from 42-45 days for the egg to hatch and both parents share in the incubation shifts up to 24 hours. They incubate using their feet.

The Red-Footed Booby is known to glide a mile without flapping its wings.
  Young 2 week old chicks have fluffy white feathers and by 12 weeks the down is only the back of their head. By 14 weeks they are juveniles are all brown or blackish grey. Their plummage will then gradually whiten when they become an adult.
