Revegetation
Mokunui and Mokuiki are two offshore islands that are threatened by invasive plant speices. Planting native plant species, such as the naupaka, will help prevent further erosion. Before planting be sure to remove worms, millipedes, slugs and other pests. This will help to prevent any unwanted bugs from making their home and disturbing the environment on these islands.

Windward students along with the Department of Land and Natural Resources planted native species on the island of Mokunui for erosion control. Each student checked for "hitchhiking" pests such as fireants which are harmful to young nesting seabirds.
