Description Thick pipe like branches that are large with flared ends resembling moose antlers. They are brown in color and grow up to three feet in height or diamater. Closely spaced wartlike bumps cover the branches. Habitat Found in waters 5 to 130 feet deep and exposed to currents and most abundant in sunlit tropical seas. Diet . Corals harbor symbiotic algae in their tissue which provides oxygen and sugars to the coral through the process of photosynthesis. The algae helps the coral colonies to secrete calcium carbonate promoting skeletal growth. | ||||||
