Description • Bigeyes have large eyes and mouth. Its body is bright red with small scales but it can change its color from red to silver. It is full grown at 13 inches long.

Habitat • Bigeyes are found in Hawaii living in coral reefs and ledges. They are nocturnal fish and hides in holes during the day.

Diet •
The Bigeye feeds on large zooplankton or planktonic animals. At night it comes out of its hiding spot and begins to hunt for food.

Did you know that the Aholehole was a favorite food fish for early Hawaiians who used it for ceremonies to get rid of evil spirits?

Description • The Aholehole is the young stage o a hhas a silvery and bluish gray color. It grows up to 12 inches and is slender side to side. It also has a small head with a large mouth and has big eyes. It has a black margin on its tail with a diamond shape in outline.

Habitat •
The Aholehole is endemic to the Hawwaiian islands and is found lin tidepools, reef flats or shallow water. They form into schools during the day. At night the schools break up and they swim individually. While they are seperate, the older species swim down to deeper waters and the younger remain in shallow waters.

Diet •
They eat plankton and insects. It also eats any kind of sea algae and any other planktonic crustaceans.
