Description - A streamlined body the Honu moves easily through water and uses the front flippers for swimming. The back flippers are like rudders to direct their course. The green sea turtle can grow up to 4 feet in length and can weigh between 200 - 400 pounds. Approximatlely 100 oung turtles hatch in about two months and together they crawl from their nest in the sand and rush for the sea. They grow very slowly and mature at 40 or 50 years old. This particular species is indigenous to the Hawaiian islands and is also threatened. Sharks and humans are their primary predator but they also are faced with disease from ocean pollution.
