Description From the familly Mitridae they are characterized by their spindle shaped shells, thick in the center and tapering at each end. It was thought to resemble a bishops miter or headdress. The smooth white shell is patterned with irregular shaped orange blocks. It is the largest of all miters reaching a length of up to 7 inches. Habitat Found living under the sand in shallow waters and up to the depths of severl hundred feet. Diet . All miters are carnivores and use a venous sting to subdue their prey which is mostly worms.
