Piliko'a or Arc-eye hawkfish

Description • The Hawkfish have shades of red and brown with or without horizontal stripes. They are also dark-brown or fleshtoned. While their coloration of the different species may vary the ring behind their eye is always present. The Arc-eye hawkfish has and arc shape marking below their eye andxp 3 spots on the lower flap of the gill. It can grow up to 5 inches in length.

Habitat •
The name piliko'a means "coral clinging" which describes how they sit on coral beds. They are also found at depths of 300 meters or more.

Diet •
Hawkfish are "ambush" predators, as they perch on a rock or coral they wait for unsuspecting fish or shrimp or crabs. carnivore they eat small fishes, shrimps, crabs and fish eggs.
