Description: Needlefish have a long and skinny body which is green on the back and silver below. They are counter-shaded which means the top is darker than the bottom. They are fast swimmers as a result of their streamlined body. Their jaws are long and thin containing a row of sharp teeth. The largest of the needlefish and this species can grow to 53 inches! Habitat: The Needle Fish is found near surfaces of bay areas and open Waters as well as inshore. Diet: They feed on small fish. They strike their prey sideways and then swallow them whole.
