He'e Mauli or Day Octopus
Octopus cynea

They also have the ability to change color to blend in with their surroundings. Only as a last resort, and if suddently surprised, does and octopus squirt ink as a distraction for escape.
The he'e grows up to 3 feet with arms spread and weigh approximately 4 to 5 pounds. It has a sac like body mass that encloses the internal organs and gill chamber. The octopus' arms are covered with receptors that help them detect crustacean or molluscan prey as they crawl over the reefs. Their eight arms help them move across the sea ground. Its mouth, which looks like a beak, is on the underside of its body and in the center of the arms.

Habitat • The day octopus is solitary and spends half its life in and the other half outside of its lair. These may be located in and around reefsand tidepoolsor around the sea ground and reef flats.

Diet • The octopus like to eat crustaceans, cowry, mollusc, shrimp, and lobsters. When the octopus eats, it uses its beak to tear the meat into small bites.
