Windsurfing is a cross between sailing and surfing. It was patented in the middle of the 1960's by two men named Jim Drake, a sailor, and Hoyle Schweitzers, a surfer, who put surfing and boating together because they loved doing it. They put a sail on a surfboard and in 1968 the first windsurf board was created. The equipment has evolved to incluce both long and short boards depending on the type of windsurfer.
