Wake boarding came to be when a surfer attempted to surf the wake of a boat. It was so much fun because it was like being on a wave that never ended. However, the surfer had to remain in the wake. But when using a tow line (like water skiers do) the surfer could jump over and go across the wake. Now they could do all kinds of tricks without ever slowing down! When tricks were added and the riders wanted to get airborne they invented skurfing.

Skurfing is a short surfboard with straps for your feet. It is much lighter than a regular surfboard. As the sport grew the board designed changed for a better ride and so came the wakeboard.

Wakeboarding is a lot like waterskiing except that you are using a wake board instead of skis. The wake board is very similar to a snowboard with straps for your feet. A wakeboarder is pulled behind a boat and towed just like a waterskier.

The safety issues for wakeboarding is that you have to watch out for people swimming in the water and you need to watch out for sandbars rocks coral and large waves.
