Kalama Beach Park
This is a 4 acre each park that is nestled within a residential neighborhood on North Kalaheo Avenue. The property was once a private residence and was aquired by the City and County in 1978 from the Boettcher Estate. The original home on the property was built in 1937 by reknown Hawaii architect Vladimir Ossipoff. The home was restored to be used as a meeting place for community groups. The grounds serve as a beach park open to the public and a parking lot, restroom and shower facilities were added. The park is closed between 6pm and 7am.

The water at Kalama Beach is usually calm and clear, and is a bright turquoise blue. There is occasional mild surf that offer perfect conditions for beginners in various water sports. When Kailua was once a place where ali'i or royalty had their summer homes it is said that Kalama Beach was where King Kamehameha and King Kalakaua surfed.

Stinging Limu and Portuguese Man-o-War
