Water Quality
A visual assessment of the Hamakua Canal where it runs between Hamakua Marsh and Hamakua Drive was conducted with volunteers through a KBAC (Kailua Bay Advisory Council) Stream Walk. The purpose of the survey is to increase awareness with community members and students.
The results found stream life to be very good however the water clarity and streamside features were only fairly good. The land use and channel features were rated fair to fairly poor with an emphasis that this site needs help.
