Pathways
Concrete channels help direct the water from Ka'elepulu stream and parts of the Ka'elepulu subwtershed to flow down into Ka'elepulu Pond. This portion of the stream and the associated storm drain system are often dry with intermittent flow during rain events.

When it rains, the water travels through storm drains along the sidewalks and eventually drains to the lower Ka'e'lepulu Stream. The monthly maintenance of stream openings then releases potentially polluted water into Kailua Bay.
