Waterflow
The lower portion of Ka'elepulu Stream was altered in 1992 by the Kawai Nui Flood Control Project. The water from Kawai Nui Marsh originally flowed south and out to Kae'elepulu Stream but the constructed dike permanently cut off the flow of water and rerouted it through Oneawa Canal. The periodic maintenance of the lower portion of Ka'elepulu Stream opens the mouth to Kailua Bay.
